Mississippi reports higher-than-average coronavirus cases Thursday

Mississippi reported a higher-than-average number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases Thursday, though the trailing averages remained stable.
The Mississippi State Health Department reported 696 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The state also reported 10 additional deaths Thursday all of which occurred between September 3 and September 29.
In total, 98,886 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 89,700 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 2,979 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases remained at 517 with Thursday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average dropped slightly to 497 cases per day.
