Mississippi reports highest daily coronavirus cases since mid-August

On Tuesday, Mississippi reported the highest number of new daily COVID-19 coronavirus cases since mid-August.
The Mississippi State Health Department reported 975 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The state reported 14 new deaths Tuesday. Of those deaths, one occurred on September 17.
In total, 101,678 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 90,500 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 3,027 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases jumped to 577 with Tuesday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average rose to 547 cases per day.
