Mississippi’s 14-day trailing new coronavirus cases on rise again

Mississippi reported new COVID-19 coronavirus cases on Sunday, as the 14-day trailing average of new cases rose to the highest level the state has seen since early September.

On Sunday, the state reported 294 new cases, bringing the total cases since the pandemic began in March to 104,932. Of those cases, the state believes approximately 90,500 have recovered.

The state reported 5 new deaths Sunday, all of which occurred between October 5 and October 10.

A total of 3,101 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.

The 7-day, daily average of new cases dipped to 635 with Sunday’s update. It was the highest level reached since early September.

The 14-day, daily average rose to 577 cases per day.

Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.

Detailed reporting of long-term care information will resume on Monday.
