A Louisiana assistant police chief has been arrested on a warrant issued in Mississippi for cyberstalking and email threats.

Central, La., Assistant Police Chief Darren Sibley was arrested Friday after state police officers responded to a crash in East Feliciana Parish. Officers discovered the warrant for Sibley’s arrest after calling in his information from the wreck.

Sibley had been on administrative leave for possible violations stemming from a domestic violence incident in Lawrence County. The warrant apparently stems from an ongoing domestic violence dispute between Sibley and Tyler Weeks in Lawrence County, Mississippi. According to court documents the men were in a relationship.

On Sept. 23,  Sibley filed charges against Weeks after the two got in a heated argument that turned violent. Court documents say Weeks punched Sibley several times and then took a pair of brass knuckles to Sibley’s face. The affidavit says Sibley was driving Weeks’ car when the incident happened. After Sibley exited the vehicle, Weeks chased Sibley with a lug wrench. Weeks eventually struck Sibley on the head, got back into the car and then struck Sibley with the vehicle, court documents say.

Weeks is facing three counts of aggravated battery.

Sibley resigned from his position on Friday.

Sibley had been with the Central Police Department since 2019. Prior to Central, Sibley was with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office and Zachary Police Department. He resigned from both.
