It is not very often that the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore has the opportunity to share some good news ahead of a hurricane. At the request of Bay-Waveland School District Superintendent Sandra Reed, Cantore delivered a school closure message to all of the students in the gulf coast school district.

“Hey Bay-Waveland School District’s kids, I got news for you,” he says in the video posted to the district’s Facebook page. “You’re gonna have an off day tomorrow in terms of coming to school, but you’re still gonna have digital learning.”

Cantore was broadcasting live from the Gulfport beach when Reed asked the television personality if he would deliver the school’s-closed-tomorrow message to her students and staff.

With all that has been happening, including hurricanes and virus pandemics, Reed told the Biloxi Sun Herald that a video message from Catore would be a good pick me up for the students and staff.
