A Mississippi alderman and longtime TV news anchor and public spokesman has died after a nearly year-long battle with health problems.

Madison Alderman Warren Strain died Tuesday morning, his wife Sandra confirmed. He was 62 years old.

Strain suffered a brain bleed and a stroke just before Christmas 2019. He was in a coma for weeks, was paralyzed on one side of his body. His faithful wife kept Mississippians informed about his condition via social media posts throughout his sudden illness and painfully slow rehabilitation.

Sandra Strain announced her husband’s death on social media Tuesday evening.

“This morning I lost the half that makes me whole,” she wrote. “The love of my life my soulmate. I honestly just don’t know what I am going to do. I just don’t have a life without this man.”

Sandra Strain asked for prayers for her and her family.

“I am in a total state of shock and utter devastation. Our lives will never be the same,” she wrote on social media. “Had I known last night was going to be our last night together I would have stayed up the entire night. Never closing my eyes and absolutely never letting go.”

“God bless you all for every single thing you have done for us,” she wrote. “My faith is what sustains me and knowing we will be together again one day.”

Warren Strain worked for many years as a TV news reporter and anchor in the Jackson area and then became a public spokesman for several state agencies. He was elected as Madison’s alderman at large in 2014.
