Rate of new coronavirus cases in Mississippi remains flat

Mississippi’s number of new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus remained relatively stable on Friday.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 749 new cases on Friday, bringing the total cases since the pandemic began in March to 119,336.
Of the total cases, the state believes approximately 101,385 have recovered.
After lifting a statewide face mask mandate October 1, Gov. Tate Reeves since has mandated virus mitigation measures in 16 counties across the state, including the requirement to wear face masks when in public.
The state reported 18 new deaths Friday. A total of 3,328 people have died from the virus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases dropped slightly to 780 with Friday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average dropped to 720 cases per day.
