Mississippi’s average weekly new coronavirus cases inch higher

Mississippi’s weekly average number of new COVID-19 coronavirus cases inched higher Sunday as the state reported the latest statistics.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 340 new cases on Sunday, bringing the total cases since the pandemic began in March to 120,500.
Of the total cases, the state believes approximately 101,385 have recovered.
After lifting a statewide face mask mandate October 1, Gov. Tate Reeves since has mandated virus mitigation measures in 16 counties across the state, including the requirement to wear face masks when in public.
The state reported 14 new deaths Sunday. A total of 3,348 people have died from the virus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases rose to 741 with Sunday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average rose to 733 cases per day.
