At least seven people were hurt when gunmen opened fire early Saturday at a nightclub in Mississippi.
The incident occurred around midnight at “Big Mickie’s,” a club in Yazoo County, WLBT-TV reported.
At least six people were shot, while a seventh person suffered a laceration, Noble Brooks, an investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said.
Names of the victims have not yet been released.
“Two men are presently in critical condition,” Brooks said.
In all, three people were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. One victim was in stable condition.
The conditions of the others injured were not immediately available.
A motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff said it could be tied to the recent killing of a teenage boy in Yazoo City.
D’Montae Montreal Lee, 13, was killed earlier this month. An arrest has been made in that case.
“We’re looking at that as a possible motive, but it has not been determined at this time,” Brooks said.
Authorities don’t know if the shooting was gang-related.
“Multiple weapons were involved … based on the (shell) casings that were recovered,” Brooks said.
No arrests have been made. However, the department was looking at several “persons of interest.”
