Mississippi school district’s CFO charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling

A high-ranking official for one of Mississippi’s best school districts was arrested Tuesday evening, according to multiple media reports.
William Wheat, 54, is reportedly the chief financial officer for the Petal School District. According to a report from WDAM TV, he was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling in the Hattiesburg.
Hattiesburg police told WDAM officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 70 block of Everglades about 8 p.m.
“When officers arrived, they were advised that a resident heard a gunshot coming from outside the home and later discovered a bullet hole in a window, located on the second floor of the residence,” WDAM reported. “No injuries were reported.”
Bond was set at $40,000.
