A man walking along a Mississippi highway at 1 a.m. was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle Wednesday.

WLOX in Biloxi reports that Jesiah Cady, 33, of Jackson was killed in the accident on Highway 63 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Officials from the Mississippi Highway Patrol report that Cady was walking south on the highway while in the northbound lane when he was struck by a 2000 Honda Civic headed northbound.

The vehicle was being driven by Richard Thomas, 55, of Moss Point.

Cady was seriously injured in the wreck and then later pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
