The case of a Mississippi woman accused of killing a woman and her baby in a drunk-driving crash two years ago may finally go to trial Monday.
Jury selection in the trial of Beth Ann White started Monday morning, according to WAPt in Jackson.
White is charged with two counts of aggravated DUI in connection with a fatal wreck that happened in November 2021 on Highway 18 and Springridge Road in Hinds County.
Allison Conaway, 39, and her 6-month-old son Alex died in the wreck. Conway’s two daughters, a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old, survived the crash with serious injuries.
According to reports, White told Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers that she had been at her daughter’s house and then stopped at a local bar. During a preliminary hearing, a trooper testified that an open bottle of liquor was found in White’s vehicle.
White reportedly refused a sobriety test at the scene of the accident but was taken to a local hospital where her blood alcohol level was reportedly found to be twice the legal limit.
White reportedly had a history of DUIs dating back to 2006.
