Two Mississippians killed in wreck, other driver facing multiple charges

A Mississippi police department is investigating a crash that left two people dead and another behind bars.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call Friday just after 7 p.m. in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles on Casino Strip Boulevard near Fitzgerald’s Boulevard. North Tunica Fire Department, Pafford EMS, and Tunica County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was determined that a male, identified as 63-year-old David Bailey Barbour of Byhalia, was deceased. Pafford EMS transported a female, identified as 67-year-old Elizabeth Ann Russom of Myrtle, to the Robinsonville Medical Clinic to await air medical. During the transport, Russom succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Dwayne Bowens of Memphis, Tenn., was transported to Baptist Desoto with minor injuries.
Bowens was taken into custody at the hospital. After Bowens was released from the hospital, he was transported to the Tunica County Jail. Bowens has been charged with the following:
- Driving While License Suspended
- No Insurance
- Two (2) counts of Aggravated DUI-Resulting in Death
