Mississippi University for Women will significantly increase scholarship opportunities for freshmen enrolling for the 2024 academic year.

“One of the accolades we are most proud of is that of all southern regional universities, our students graduate with the least amount of debt.  One way we achieve this is by providing scholarships to high-achieving students. Decades ago my education at The W was made possible because of I received a Presidential scholarship, so this is very meaningful to me,” said Nora Miller university president.

Scholarship awards begin at an 18 ACT and a 3.0 GPA or a 20 ACT and 2.75 GPA. An application fee is not required, and the application process can be completed in as little as 15 minutes.

Pending a student’s academic achievements, Freshmen scholarships range from the Presidential Award ($5,500 per year) to the Kincannon Award ($2,000 per year).

“These scholarship increases are part of The W’s continued commitment to keeping a college education accessible and affordable,” said Dr. David Brooking, executive director of enrollment management.

For entering freshmen to qualify for a scholarship their ACT/SAT score and college preparatory curriculum (CPC) grade point average from high school are weighed to determine their award range. Students must also be eligible to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Priority deadlines for awards are May 1. Students admitted after May 1 will be considered for awards, if funds are still available.
