Man arrested for murder in small Mississippi city

A Mississippi police department has arrested a man for murder and two others allegedly involved in the case.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a BOLO (be on the lookout) from the Batesville Police Department in reference to a suspect for a murder that had occurred on Thursday.

The BOLO was issued for 19-year-old Jamari Tyrice Barnes of Tunica. TCSO deputies made contact via phone with Barnes regarding a warrant for his arrest. Barnes met deputies in Tunica County.

Barnes was taken into custody without incident at 10:55 p.m. and was transported to the Tunica County Jail. The Batesville Police Department was notified.

According to the Batesville Police Department, officers responded to the Corner Store at Vance Street and Pearson Street. When officers arrived, they found one male deceased. All suspects involved were identified and have been arrested. All subjects are innocent until proving guilty in a court of law. BPD thanked all agencies that assisted in locating the suspects.

Arrested were:

  • Jamaras Jefferson – Accessory after the Fact
  • Jaylin Ausborn – Accessory after the Fact
  • Jamari Barnes- Murder
