One person is in custody after another person was shot in front of a Mississippi police officer’s house Monday afternoon.

WLBT in Jackson reports that the shooting happened on Acrees Street near Old Highway 80 in Scott County.

Officials with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office report that the shooting happened at approximately 3 p.m. in front of a Morton police officer’s house.

The victim, who is believed to be related to the police officer,  was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Sheriff Mike Lee said the suspect and the victim have had a history of fighting.

None of those involved in the shooting were identified.
