Operation Happy Birthday: Girlfriend charged with delivering drugs to partner in Mississippi jail

A Mississippi woman has been charged with delivering drugs to her suspected boyfriend, an inmate of a Mississippi jail, on his birthday.

Tunika Cooper, 45, of Horn Lake, was arrested Wednesday in Southaven on a warrant relating to furnishing contraband to a prisoner at the Tunica County Detention Center. According to a press release, this felony carries a mandatory seven-year sentence if convicted.

The warrant was executed by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office drug investigators.

The drug contraband was intercepted on Monday on the birthday of the alleged partner of Cooper, Quinterrance Vardaman. Vardaman is an inmate incarcerated at the Tunica County Detention Center. More charges may be filed at the conclusion of this investigation.

This investigation remains ongoing.
