An investigation has been launched after a safe containing more than $10,000 was stolen from a Mississippi auto donation center.

WLBT News in Jackson reports that the safe was stolen on Dec. 16 from an auto donation center in Crystal Springs.

Two suspects reportedly broke into the Mercy House Auto Center and stole the safe.

All sales at the auto center go to Mercy House Teen Challenge ministry, which helps men overcome addiction through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, according to the organization’s website. Approximately 70 men are housed, fed, and taught Christian values and Biblical principles at the facility.

“These men are not only restored as productive members of their families and communities but are equipped to go disciple others, helping build God’s Kingdom, as we are commanded to spread the Gospel.,” according to the website.

Executive Director of Mercy House Matt Milliman said the safe at the center doesn’t normally contain that type of money, but a deposit had not yet been made after a busy day at the center.

Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley says the incident is still under investigation.
