Two people were killed after a car accident on a rural Mississippi highway Wednesday.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that the accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Highway 178 near Blue Springs in Union County.

The crash involved one vehicle.

Officials from the Union County coroner’s office report that one person died at the scene of the wreck and another person died at the hospital.

The victims have not been identified pending notification of kin.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol investigating the accident.
