Authorities are investigating the discovery of a dead body inside a locked storage unit at a Mississippi mini-storage facility.

WLBT reports that the dead body was found in a storage unit in Yazoo City by two men who fear the body could be that of a family member missing for roughly a month.

Brothers Jackie and David Edmonds notified authorities the day after Christmas after they found a decomposed body inside a locked storage unit owned by their oldest brother, Sam Edmond.

The condition of the body was such that authorities could not make a positive identification. The human remains have been sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for identification.

Officials with the Yazoo City Police Department are working with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations to determine if the investigation should be considered a murder case.

Officials believe a truck owned by Sam Edmond may have been stolen when he went missing.
