Mississippi Skies: Much colder weather coming. How long will sunny skies last?

The New Year begins with much colder temperatures across the Magnolia State, especially when darkness falls Monday.
We’ll have highs from the 40s upstate to the 60s along the Gulf Coast. Monday night, northern counties will drop into the lower 20s with freezing temperatures stretching all the way to the coastal counties.
Our next shot of rain comes Wednesday. Although most of the moisture should move out before Wednesday night, there is a chance for a few sprinkles. With temps in the 20s for some of us, that could get interesting. We’ll keep an eye on forecast models to see if we need to change that from sprinkles to snow flurries or some other wintry precipitation.
North Mississippi
Sunny with a high of 45. Mostly clear Monday night with a low of 24.
Central Mississippi

South Mississippi

Gulf Coast
Dense fog early. Mostly sunny, then a chance of a shower in the afternoon. High of 64. Mostly clear overnight with a low of 33.
