A 75-year-old man was found dead Tuesday inside a house that had caught fire.

WJTV in Jackson reports that the unidentified man was found after emergency officials responded to the scene of a house fire in the 2000 block of Belknap Road in Edwards, west of Jackson.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones told WJTV that preliminary findings indicate that the man was found deceased inside the house. The fire happened on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The man’s cause of death and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
