Mississippi Skies: From a cold rain to tornadoes, this weather forecast includes some of everything!

Published 10:51 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2024

Wednesday will call for some boots and heavy jackets as most of the state has at least a chance for rain with highs in the 40s or low-50s. While northern Mississippi only has a chance for a few showers, the southern half of the state will likely have showers. Mix that with the cold temps and it’s going to be a bone chilling day.

Rain won’t last long, but the cold temperatures will drop for another cold night.

We’ll start warming up with some more rain chances towards the weekend, then things get interesting again by Monday night. The Storm Prediction Center has already started watching for the possibility of some severe weather Monday night and Tuesday morning with all modes of severe weather possible. Of course, this event is still several days away. We’ll keep watching severe weather outlooks from the National Weather Service and forecast models to get a better idea.
