One man is dead, and another man is in custody after a shooting early on New Year’s Day.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that the shooting occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday in Oktibbeha County.

Langston Spencer, 28, of Starkville, was arrested Monday and is being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail.

Spencer was charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a man who was found dead of a single gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
