Dei Allard, executive director of MSU Housing and Residence Life, told the Reflector, the student newspaper, that the new residence hall be a new type of building for the campus with single rooms in a pod-style community.

In the “pod-style” dorm, 18 single rooms will be connected to a common bathroom hall and a common area. The bathroom hall will have individual showers or toilet rooms with showers. The new residence hall will include a new dining hall open to all students and a storm shelter.

Officials are considering including a brick oven, personalized pizza bar, pasta stations and a Maroon Market in the dining hall.
