Funeral arrangements set for fallen Mississippi deputy, killed in line of duty

Funeral arrangements have been set for the Mississippi deputy who was shot and killed Thursday evening after making a traffic stop.

Moments Funeral Home in Lucedale announced the arrangements for George County Sheriff’s Office deputy Jeremy Malone, 44, who died while serving his community.

Visitation will be at Agricola Baptist Church from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024.

The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. on Jan. 12, 2024, at the church with Bro. Tommy Mitchell officiating.

Burial will follow in Tanners Cemetery in Harlston, Mississippi.

Pallbearers include fellow officers in the George County Sherriff’s Department. Honorary Pallbearers include his Brothers in Blue.

According to the obituary, Malone was a 1998 graduate of Perry Central High School. He had worked with Leakesville Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Biloxi Police Department, Greene County Sherriff’s Department, George County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies.
