A Mississippi teen was arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle following a pursuit with officers on the interstate.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said the department arrested Corey Lewis, 19, of Woodville, and charged him with stealing a vehicle shortly after midnight Thursday morning. A juvenile passenger was released to their guardian and another passenger fled the scene of the crash.

Rushing said the sheriff’s office received calls reporting a male subject coming up to residences looking for a ride and is believed to be the passenger who fled the scene. The missing passenger has not been found yet and is only wanted at this time for fleeing the scene of a crash.

Lewis was charged with felony fleeing, resisting arrest by non-violent flight and felony motor vehicle theft. Deputies initially pursued the vehicle stolen out of New Orleans on I-55 and continued on to Lott Smith Road headed towards the Copiah County line where the vehicle crashed.

“We have been in the area this morning if we see the subject who fled the scene but the main person was caught last night,” Rushing said.
