Efforts to resuscitate a man found inside a burning building by Mississippi firefighters Monday morning failed.

WLBT News reports that Jackson firefighters discovered the man’s body after responding to a business fire near Highway 80 and Gallatin Street.

Firefighters responded to the fire call shortly before 6 a.m. and discovered the body of a middle-aged man after they were able to get inside the building.

Officials say firefighters rushed the victim out of the building and tried to resuscitate him, to no avail.

The circumstances behind the fire are being investigated by the Jackson Fire Department and other agencies.
