Man assessing damage to his vehicle hit and killed by truck on Mississippi highway

A man was hit and killed on a Mississippi highway Sunday night while he was trying to assess the damage to his vehicle from a crash.

Officials from the Mississippi Highway Patrol report that the incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Highway 49 in Humphreys County.

MHP did not name the victim who was outside his vehicle assessing damage from a previous crash when he was hit by a white Ford F-250 near the Will Whittington Auxiliary Channel Bridge.

The Ford F-250 reportedly did not stop and was last seen traveling north on Highway 49. The Ford truck should have damage to the front hood or bumper.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
