Number of deaths attributed to recent winter weather in Mississippi rises

The number of deaths attributed to the recent severe winter weather has risen to 12.

On Monday, officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reported a weather-related death that occurred in Marshall County.

On Sunday, MEMA officials reported three weather-related deaths from Panola and Sunflower counties.

In all, 12 deaths have been reported by MEMA since an arctic blast moved across the state on Jan. 14.

Other weather-related deaths have been reported in Chickasaw, Rankin, Humphreys, Sharkey, Leflore, and Washington counties.
