Mississippi homeowner fights back after home invasion

A Mississippi man is recovering from injuries after a homeowner fought back during a home invasion.

According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, police responded to a home on Mable Street Tuesday.

According to a statement, officers learned a white male, later identified as Cody Daniel Johnson, 39, of Hattiesburg, allegedly entered the home and demanded money from the homeowner.

“The victim fought back and forced Johnson outside,” the statement reads. “He then left the scene on foot.”

Officers found Johnson with a laceration on his forehead a short distance from the scene. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries before being taken into custody.

After being discharged from the hospital, Johnson was arrested and charged with one count of home invasion and one count of aggravated assault.

He has been booked into the Forrest County Jail.
