Former Mississippi sheriff arrested on driving under the influence charge

A former Mississippi sheriff has been arrested and accused of driving under the influence.
Officials from the Waynesboro Police Department report that former Wayne County Sheriff Jody Ashley was arrested Saturday.
Ashley served two terms as sheriff in Wayne County, from 2015 to 2023.
Ashley was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail and has since been released.
