Officials: Mississippi 14-year-old accused of killing mother will be charged as adult. $1,000,000 bond set.

A Mississippi 14-year-old girl accused of shooting and killing her mother Tuesday has been charged as an adult. Her bond has been set at $1,000,000.

Officials identified the teen as Carly Madison Gregg.

Gregg has been charged with the murder of her mother Ashley Smylie, a teacher at Northwest Rankin High School, and the attempted murder of her stepfather.

She has been transferred to the Rankin County Adult Detention Center.

Officials say the shooting occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in the 200 block of Ashton Way near Old Fannin Road.

Gregg reportedly shot and killed her mother. After Gregg’s stepfather returned home, Gregg then reportedly shot her stepfather before fleeing. Gregg was arrested by authorities shortly after fleeing the house. She was taken into custody not far from the residence.
