An arrest has been made by a Mississippi police department in the Monday murder of 15-year-old Jayna Lumzy in Hattiesburg.

A 17-year-old male of Lamar County has been formally charged with one count of First-Degree Murder. He has been charged as an adult and has been booked into the Forrest County Jail with the assistance of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.

Additional arrests are pending as the investigation is ongoing.

Police found Lumzy unresponsive about 4:45 a.m. Monday in the stairwell of an apartment complex on Country Club Road. She died after officers and paramedics tried to revive her.
