When considering the massive storm system developing from the approaching cold front, Mississippi is in decent shape compared to our neighbors to the north and east. Of course, it only takes one storm to change the lives of a community.

Most of us above the U. S. Highway 82 corridor will get some rain and storms today and tonight. Storms could be strong to severe with a highlighted risk in the northeastern corner of the state. Rain will be sporadic in our southern region, but any storms that develop could become strong to severe.

Main risks are damaging winds and hail, but tornadoes are possible, especially in northeast Mississippi.

Anyone traveling north or east today through tonight should use extreme caution as a tornado outbreak is possible from parts of Alabama to Ohio.
