Although we’re not in the path of totality for the eclipse Monday, there are still plenty of places in Mississippi that could have a nice cosmic show, if the clouds cooperate. With current forecast and model trends, that’s a big “if.”

Right now, we’re looking at partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies with more clouds along the Gulf Coast and in southern Mississippi. Central Mississippi is right on the 50-50 chance between clouds and sun, and parts of northern Mississippi may squeeze out some sunshine mixed with clouds. It just depends on when storms move into the region.

We’ll have several chances of storms next week between Monday and Wednesday. From the National Weather Service:

“We will be monitoring the potential for a significant storm system next week. It appears that concerns for flooding and severe weather may be on the increase as several rounds of storms could move across the region, especially during the Monday to Wednesday time frame. Please be sure to check back for updates concerning this potential storm system.”

North Mississippi

Central Mississippi

Sunny with a high of 67. Mostly clear overnight with a low of 43.

South Mississippi

Sunny with a high of 72. Overnight, mostly clear with a low of 45.

Gulf Coast

Sunny with a high of 78. Clear Friday night with a low of 50.
