Mississippi Skies: Exceptional weather Saturday as confidence in severe potential increasing for next storm system

Published 11:17 pm Friday, April 5, 2024

Anyone with outdoor plans Saturday will have the opportunity to enjoy an amazing weather day. There will be plenty of sunshine across the state with highs in the upper 60s in the north to mid-70s in the south.

The National Weather Service is still monitoring the potential for severe weather next week as we expect several rounds of rain and storms. In Friday’s information, confidence in the potential for severe weather is “increasing.”

The good thing for Monday’s forecast for people hoping to see the eclipse is models have slowed down on cloud cover somewhat. We still may have some clouds and rain, but the latest model runs have a few more communities having less cloud cover than earlier runs. It may come down to being in the right place.
