A Mississippi man was arrested Sunday by Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies and charged with aggravated domestic violence after allegedly stabbing his partner in the chest.

Personnel at Merit Health Natchez notified the sheriff’s office about a subject in the hospital with a stab wound to the chest. The victim was in critical condition, said Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten.

Deputies began their investigation and were able to determine the stabbing had taken place at Riverwood Manor Apartments. Deputies then located and detained Jariod Lamar Hauer, 30, of Natchez. After interviewing Hauer, deputies were able to obtain the knife from inside Hauer’s apartment, leading to his arrest and charges.

Patten said the victim was flown to another hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Patten credited his patrol deputies with “quick thinking and doing an excellent job of investigating and taking the suspect into custody.”
