Police: Investigation underway after passerby stumbles upon dead body in yard of Mississippi residence

An investigation is underway following the grim discovery of a woman’s body in the yard of an abandoned Missisippi residence.
The body, identified as that of Ashanti Jade Turner, 25, was found on Tuesday morning around 10 a.m.
WLBT News in Jackson reports that the Columbus Police Department confirmed the finding, indicating that a passerby stumbled upon the scene.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant confirmed Turner’s identity. According to her family, Turner resided near the abandoned property, with her last sighting on Sunday, April 21.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of Turner’s death, which is being treated as a homicide.
The Columbus Police Department has identified Turner’s boyfriend, Damian Peterson, as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.
