A Mississippi woman is under arrest for murder after a domestic situation turned fatal Wednesday morning.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, officers responded to the area of Grove Street and Hayes Street in reference to a shooting at approximately 1:50 a.m.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found 34-year-old Hakeem Samall Burnett on the ground suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the body.

VPD said Burnett was rushed to Merit Health River Region, where he succumbed to his injuries.

VPD said 41-year-old Rheuvonia Ramekia Buck was subsequently arrested and charged with murder, pending her initial court appearance.

The motive for the shooting is believed to be related to a domestic dispute, VPD said.
