Shooting at Mississippi police station reported; officer, suspect reportedly injured

Officials are investigating a shooting at a Mississippi police station.
Officials with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are investigating the officer-
involved shooting at the Mendenhall Police Department that occurred Thursday, May 2.
According to an MBI news release, an officer with Mendenhall Police Department was booking a subject on domestic violence charges at the police station when an altercation occurred between the subject and the officer.
During the altercation, the officer reportedly discharged his weapon striking the subject.
The officer received minor injuries and the subject was transported to a local hospital.
This information is preliminary and subject to change.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
