A 5-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital after he was reportedly shocked by an electrical box at a Mississippi sports complex.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that the boy was shocked Thursday night at the West Point Sportsplex.

The boy reportedly touched an electrical box on a pole near a baseball field.

The boy was reportedly alert when taken to a local hospital and then sent to a regional medical center in Tupelo for further testing and observation.

The boy was reportedly still alert on Friday morning.

After the incident, the West Point Water and Light Department shut down the Sportsplex for inspection. The Sportsplex was declared safe and will reopen for baseball games on Monday.
