In two days, fugitives from Texas have been apprehended in communities along the Mississippi River and a Texas man has been arrested for reportedly soliciting a minor in a nearby community.

Manhunt for Texas Murder Suspect apprehended in Warren County 

On Tuesday, deputies with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Marcus Thompson after an overnight manhunt that began when the stolen car he was believed to be driving was found abandoned in Warren County off China Grove Road. Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the car was confirmed through license plate records as belonging to the victim in the Webster, Texas homicide.

According to information from Webster Police Department, officers responded to a welfare concern Monday at approximately 9 a.m. in the 900 block of Henderson Avenue in Webster, which is located in Harris County, Texas near Houston. 

“Upon making entry into the residence, officers located a deceased 58-year-old female with suspicious wounds on her body and began a homicide investigation,” Webster PD officials said. “Investigators developed a person of interest named Marcus Thompson, who was witnessed leaving the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen and was later tracked in the State of Louisiana, before eventually being abandoned in Warren County, Mississippi.”

Texas fugitive captured hiding in Natchez house 

U.S. Marshals, with assistance from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the Natchez Police Department, captured a fugitive wanted in Texas who was hiding  in a home on Martin’s Lane in Natchez on Tuesday morning after a two-hour standoff.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said his office was contacted at approximately 7:30 a.m. by the U.S. Marshal Service requesting assistance in apprehending Eric Harris, who was wanted out of Coryell County, Texas, on a family violence assault by occlusion charge. Texas law has an enhancement for family violence assault by choking or impeding breathing.

When U.S. Marshals and Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to make contact with those in the residence, they encountered two pit bulldogs. Marshals then contacted the Natchez Police Department and requested assistance from its animal control officers.

“Family members in the home complied and animal control helped bring the dogs to safety before deputies and marshals engaged the suspect,” Patten said.

For two hours, the Marshals tried to talk with the suspect to get him to surrender, but the suspect refused, the sheriff said.

After trying to talk with the suspect failed, Marshals then used drone technology to locate where the suspect was hiding in the residence.

“They were not sure whether he was deceased or alive, but a window of opportunity opened up to engage the suspect and the Marshals took that opportunity,” Patten said.

He said they were able to make contact with the suspect and make an arrest without further incident. Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies transported Harris to the Adams County Jail, where he awaits extradition back to Texas

.US Marshals apprehend Texas Man accused of engaging in solicitation of minor

A Texas man has been arrested by U.S. Marshals and Fort Worth Police after Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit discovered him engaging in sexual conversations and soliciting lewd photos from what he believed to a child online.

Concordia Parish sits along the Mississippi River across from Adams County.

According to CPSO, Evan Brookes Shannon, 33, was positively identified by detectives and an arrest warrant was obtained and entered into NCIC.

He was then taken into custody Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Fort Worth Police Department and will be extradited to Louisiana for prosecution.

Shannon is charged by CPSO with indecent behavior with juveniles.

Anyone who is arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty, authorities said.
