A man has been arrested after reportedly shooting a person in the head and getting into a standoff with police officers and members of a Mississippi SWAT team.

Barnett Evans reportedly shot a person in the head shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Raymond Road.

The victim, who has not been identified, was sent to the hospital for treatment.

Evans then fled the scene to a residence on Cooper Road and then another house on Treehaven Drive. where he reportedly got into a standoff with Jackson police and the SWAT team.

After hostage negotiations, Evan gave himself up to the authorities without incident.

Evans has been charged with aggravated assault.
