More than 18,000 Mississippi students will get Friday off because of widespread power outages and low water pressure in the City of Jackson.

Jackson Public School District officials announced all schools will be closed on Friday, May 10.

JPS officials said the schools will be closed due to widespread power outages and low water pressure throughout the City of Jackson.

The Jackson Public School District operates and maintains 54 schools in the district and includes students from kindergarten through the 12th grade.
