A 51-year-old Mississippi woman was arrested for shoplifting more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from a downtown Oxford business.
Karen Borden, of Oxford, was arrested by the Oxford Police Department and charged with Felony Shoplifting.
Borden was arrested after OPD officers responded to a shoplifting report from a business in the 200 block of North Lamar Boulevard just off the Oxford Square.
When officers arrived at the business, they discovered a felonious amount of merchandise had been stolen from the store. In Mississippi, a felony shoplifting charge is made when more than $1,000 of merchandise is suspected to have been stolen from a business.
Borden was taken before a Municipal Court judge for her initial bond hearing and was issued a $5,000 bond.
