A child is in critical condition after nearly drowning in Mississippi’s Barnett Reservoir.

WLBT News in Jackson reports that officers discovered the child in the water after responding to a call regarding a missing juvenile at Lakeshore Park Saturday afternoon.

After discovering the child in the water, officers with the Reservoir Police Department immediately jumped into the water to save the child.

After retrieving the child, officers then performed CPR until medical personnel could arrive on the scene. The child was then taken to a local hospital.

Officials said that as of Saturday afternoon, the child was in critical condition.
