Mississippi trooper injured after being struck by vehicle at Memorial Day weekend checkpoint

A Mississippi State trooper was airlifted to a regional hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at a Memorial Day weekend checkpoint.
The trooper was seriously injured at approximately 10 p.m. Friday while conducting a checkpoint on Highway 90 in Hancock County. The checkpoint was being conducted as part of MHP’s efforts to increase safety during the Memorial Day travel period.
The trooper was injured when a vehicle traveling west struck a Mississippi State Trooper.
The trooper was airlifted from the scene with serious injuries and sent to an out-of-state hospital.
The incident remains under investigation.
