A Mississippi man died after the SUV he was riding in struck another SUV broadside at a busy highway intersection.
Police say they do not know if the man — identified as Eugene Skipper, of Natchez — died from a heart attack or injuries suffered in the wreck, which happened at approximately 10 p.m. Friday night on John R. Junkin Drive in Natchez.
Skipper was a passenger in a red SUV driven by his wife, Veronica Skipper, of Natchez.
Natchez Police Commander Jerry Ford said a juvenile was driving a tan SUV and was turning from the westbound lane of John R. Junkin Drive into the parking lot of LaFiesta and Natchez Market when he was struck broadside by the red SUV driven by Veronica Skipper. The tan SUV overturned in the roadway.
The juvenile was the only person in the tan SUV. He was taken by private vehicle to the hospital.
Veronica Skipper was taken to Merit Health Natchez by AMR ambulance.
Her husband, Eugene Skipper died as a result of the crash. It is not known if Eugene Skipper died from injuries received during the crash or from a heart attack, Ford said.
No information was available about the extent of injuries to the Veronica Skipper or the juvenile.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. It is still under investigation, Ford said.
