Officials: two children killed, four others sent to hospital in Mississippi house fire

Authorities are investigating after two children died in a Mississippi house fire early Tuesday morning.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that the fire occurred at approximately 3 a.m. at a house on Deer Trail in Lowndes County.

Lowndes County fire officials said firefighters found the house engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene.

According to family members, six people, including two parents and four children, were inside the house at the time of the fire.

Two of the children died. The other survivors of the fire were transported to the hospital.

Fire officials say the cause of the blaze is under investigation but appears to be accidental. A preliminary investigation indicates that no foul play is involved.
